St. Boniface Hospital
At St. Boniface Hospital, we’re proving that high-quality healthcare is possible in low-resource settings.
When others said that nothing good could happen in Haiti, we grew our one-room clinic into a 190-bed hospital.
When others said that we should limit the scope of our care, we built world-class facilities to provide comprehensive 24/7 care to the more than 2.3 million people who live in southern Haiti.
When faced with barriers, including natural disasters and political instability, our doors always remain open. In times of crisis and in calm, SBH ensures that all people can access the lifesaving and life-changing care they need.
SBH is staffed by Haiti’s best medical professionals specializing in pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics, surgery, dentistry, and more. We employ over 500 staff in Haiti, including doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, biomedical repair technicians, and community health workers. Located in the mountainous village of Fond des Blancs, SBH services a direct population of approximately 50,000 people and is the main referral hospital for southern Haiti.
SBH's facilities include:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit*
- 24/7 Emergency care center*
- 24/7 Surgical center
- Infectious disease ward*
- Spinal cord injury rehabilitation center**
- Comprehensive Women's health center
- Pediatric inpatient ward
- HIV/AIDS clinic
- Outpatient clinic
- Modern laboratory
- Mental health services
- Dental clinic
*the only facility of its kind in southern Haiti
**the only facility of its kind nationally
Care doesn’t stop at the hospital’s doors. We recognize that for many people, traveling to SBH for basic care can mean a day of lost wages, and a day without food. That’s why we’re committed to bringing care directly to the communities serve, through our extensive network of community health workers and through the Villa Clinic. Because we believe that health is the bedrock of opportunity. With health, people can work for a better life and can lift themselves and their communities higher. And with health, people are free to reach for their own dreams—and the dreams of the Haitian people are high.
