At 8:11 pm, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck northern Haiti, approximately 12 miles north-northwest of Port de Paix. All of our staff are safe, and we are grateful that SBH was not affected. However, we remain highly concerned about our friends and neighbors in northern Haiti, as early reports indicate damage was sustained in the area. We will provide further updates as we receive more information.

At least 12 people have died and over 130 people have been injured in last night’s earthquake in northern Haiti, as reported by The Miami Herald. These numbers are expected to rise as relief efforts continue. We are currently coordinating with the Haitian Ministry of Health to see how we can help our friends and neighbors in northern Haiti.
