Recently, the founder of eff.Y.bee jewelry went down to SBH to establish Bay Lavi, a jewelry employment program that trains women in the Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation and Community Reintegration Program with the necessary skill set and provides them with a source of income.
“We had an orientation, interview and certificate ceremony and spent the week working with the women and training them on how to make the jewelry,” says founder Alyssa Kutcha of the process. “I guided their designs in colorways and patterns that I can sell to my target market in the U.S. My company will purchase the jewelry from them in bulk, and then I’ll be selling and distributing the jewelry to retail and online stores, campus reps at several universities, and selling product in my own store in Bryant Park.”
