What are Corporate Matching Gifts?
Corporate matching gifts are donations that some organizations make in response to their employee’s charitable giving. Most often, an organization will match an employee’s gift to a verified nonprofit at a 1:1 ratio—meaning that if an employee gives $5 to an organization like Health Equity International, the organization will also make a $5 donation to Health Equity International. Less commonly, some organizations give at 2:1, 3:1, or even 4:1 ratios. Each organization will have its own rules and regulations for matching gifts: the tool above can help you learn more about your employer’s specific policies.
