2021 Earthquake Response

HEI/SBH is leading the response to the devastating earthquake that struck southern Haiti in August 2021.

Our team is working tirelessly to provide life-saving care to earthquake survivors.

We are evacuating patients from the earthquake zone to SBH so they can receive the life-saving care they need. We are the only facility in the region with significant surgical and emergency capacity to care for the high volume of patients. We are also providing critical medications and resources to hospitals in cities hit hardest by the earthquake.

We are grateful to our partner organizations and generous donors who are helping ensure we have the staffing and resources we need to care for survivors, continue leading the COVID-19 response for the region, and see more than 500 patient visits each day.

We are particularly grateful for our longstanding partnership with the Haitian Ministry of Health, whose support ensures we can respond quickly in any emergency.
