Housing & Community Development
Health Equity International partners with Food for the Poor to improve housing and livelihoods for some of Fond-des-Blancs' most vulnerable families. To date, FFP has built 100 houses. Families who benefit from this program are all single female-headed households, persons with disabilities, or living with HIV.
Health Equity International's role is to provide hygiene and sanitation training for the recipient families, to further improve their health and well being by training them on proper storage of water, cleanliness of water containers, hand-washing, proper cooking methods, and proper disposal of waste. Each family is also eligible to benefit from chicken rearing and goat interbreeding activities. These activities are also supported by FFP and help provide income and food for the families.
